Problems with Personal Message function
« on: February 22, 2019, 09:21:49 pm »
Just tried a couple of times to reply to a PM only to get a message telling me I am "FORBIDDEN" from accessing the personal message function on this forum.   Anybody else having this problem?    :hmm

Yep.  Looks like a filesystem error from the webserver saying it can't access the folder /pm/

Same here, but check your sent folder! They are sending out!

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

Well, the sent message folder shows them (I sent one earlier today) as being sent.  Whether or not they were actually delivered or not, that's a different question.

Edit to add:  MTK20 - check your messages.  I just sent you a test message.

    I got it as replied.

If you are curious, another trick is to, after clicking send, quickly hit the back arrow and try to send again (immediately). You'll get a new webserver message stating that you sent that message less than 5 seconds ago.

And I got your response.  So, it's apparently working, in spite of the error messages.

Well, since we have confirmed the messages are sending this will get classified as a priority 3 or 4 item.  Maybe even a 5.  Probably on a 5 day SLA so I am not holding my breath that it will be resolved fast.  Good to know the messages are making it through.

Saw the report you sent and reached out by email before I saw this thread coelacanth.

So you only get the message when sending a PM? All PM conversations or just certain ones? Can you tell me the title of one of the convos where you get it?

All PM replies in the last three days at this point.  Haven't tried it this afternoon yet but up to this point it seems to be triggered by the reply function on the PM system.
