Hmmm..that's odd. I cannot replicate the error messaging, however I cannot get the quote function to work at all. Have you tried doing this in other browsers to see if you got the same error message? Also, are you accessing the site via desktop or mobile? Apple or Android? I just want to try to find out a little more info before I escalate the issue on to our technical team.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

    Cheers,

    Erik

I've had problems with the quote function on Win 10 in Chrome (Version 66.0.3359.181), two different computers... I haven't tried it in Edge, though...

I am running Chrome Version 66.0.3359.181 on Mac OS X 10.11.6.  Also tested in Firefox 58.0.2 and Safari 9.1.2 with the same basic results.

It could also be this error which pops prominently in the console on firefox when I click "quote" buttons.

Yup.  Just downloaded a Google Chrome update this afternoon and still no quote function.

In all seriousness, this is precisely why I did *NOT* go into web programming when I got into working IT. It *will* drive you to drink.

    Ok, admin...

Here is the code behind an inspect element to "Insert Quote"

    Code: [Select]
    <a href="https://wethearmed.com/technical-support/mixed-security-error-on-quote-and-edit-comment/?action=post;quote=530466;last_msg=530466" onclick="return oQuickReply.quote(530466);">Quote</a>
If I take the href URL and paste it in a new window, it loads, and I get my quote text (see below).

If I set a breakpoint in the javascript on the function oQuickReply, it never hits, and if I pause the code I am stuck in them middle of a bunch of google adword stuff.

Of course, pasting the URL would bypass all of that stuff...

    I highly recommend it!

    Admin,

Any update on this.  In addition to quote, I can't edit my own posts, so it really does create some issues.  I don't wanna look like some jerk just jacking up my post count, but if I forget some part of a post before I click the button, I can't add it.  Or fix typo's.

I could edit fine, but still cannot quote.  The work arounds are okay when on my computer, but suck when on my tablet.

Yep...Eternal loading banner at the top, but it never actually calls the javascript function to modify.

Apologies for the ongoing delay on this folks. I've bumped the ticket with the techs (who have been super busy handling site migrations for the past month). Hopefully they will be able to get the Quote issue sorted out soon. Ticket #3254768

Just an update.  I noted today that this issue is gone.  I can both quote and edit posts again.  The only change to my local environment is whatever updates Chrome has made.

This is replaced with all new fun I discovered today.  The site no longer supports links to images that are not hosted on secure servers.  It is replaces http:// image references with https:// in the source URL, and if the specified server doesn't support https, then the request times out and no image is displayed.

I mean, I get it.  If you wanna check all the boxes of running a proper HTTPS environment, then you won't allow unsecured content to be referenced on the website.  OTOH, this is a community gun forum, not a financial system.

I guess I get to spend the weekend finding a cert provider and enabling HTTPS on my my utiilty webserver where I store these images.

To out new overlords that bought this domain with the hope of monetizing it.  This kinda BS is a reason activity is on the decline.  If it weren't for the fact that I really like to hear what certain people here have to say, an I don't interact with them anywhere else, I would be gone.

Agreed.  It is considerably less user friendly than it was previously.  Not happy about it but I'm staying for the exact same reason you stated - for now.  I'll even visit a sponsored website from time to time just to keep them happy but at some point it gets to be more trouble than its worth.
