The "can't find anyone to take the kid" scenario happens every day. You're thinking about your life, your kind of people, your family. It's inconceivable that there would be a scenario where your kid would be left at school with no one to pick him up. You're probably quite correct.
You're life, your kind of people, your family are not representative of everyone in this country.
Cops, and DCS, deal with people who can't hold it together enough to make sure Timmy gets picked up from school. Every day.

And I understand this, really I do. Doesn't mean I like it. I know that there are families that have problems.
Without going into detail, I've got two nephews that were removed from their home, because of what someone not even in the family did. I hate DCFS/CPS, I hate the fact that they can walk in, (without a warrant, mind you), and remove someone's kids, based on some report from some pissed off neighbor, or an ex-'s current ____friend, or some stranger on the street.
Timmy's Mom, may be 'Mother of the Year,' and she's got a dead battery from all of the phone calls she gets, from charitable organizations, neighbors seeking guidance, and the President asking for advice on foreign affairs. But that won't matter one whit, once Timmy's name get's added to the roster. Once he's in the system, that family is screwed.
My origional statement stands: Tell the kid to run, first opportunity, and don't look back. Let 'me' ( the Parent) deal with the repercussions. I'll slap the s___ out of the teacher, and the principle, if it comes down to it, and then I'll take you to Disney Land (after I get out of jail). But RUN.
If you have to teach your kid 'Evade and Escape' techniques, do it. If you're any kind of (and I hate to use the term) 'Prepper', you should already have begun training.
Russell has the right idea, Homeschooling. Get your chidren as far away from 'the System' as possible. But teach them how to deal with it, don't go all 'Separatist'.
