Discontinued?

Could it be the seeming contradictions of the sales pitch?  :shrug

"Personal Defense Shotshell 12 Gauge

"...specialized payloads to produce patterns and penetration optimized to meet the unique needs of self-defense situations."

"Copper-plated shot
Buffering prevents deformation

:hmm  Hard to say.  Maybe folks don't see the value of high dollar "premium" buck shot as self defense loads for the shotgun as much as they do something like the "HST" line for handgun ammo.

I know I've been looking for their #1B self defense load for a good while.  Several websites have listings for it, but "Out of Stock" everywhere.

They might want to consolidate production and focus on their more popular loads at the moment.    With everything in short supply, it makes sense to them to reduced the number of offerings and production line changeovers.

It's not just right now...like I said, I've been looking for the #1B for several months, since late fall.

Its easy to speculate but hard to say for certain.  Lots of factors go into decisions about a product line-up and the production schedules responsible for getting it ready to market.  Distribution can also be a headache in it's own right.

Trying to decide what the problem is from the standpoint of the end user is sort of like trying to diagnose an engine problem by looking up the tailpipe.   :coffee

Federal LE1321B Flite Control:  I understand this load was discontinued in 2018.  Frankly, Federal did not seem to actively push this load in the LE market and apparently ignored the broader consumer market.

Frankly, the whole "discontinued" or unobtainium thing with shot shells has gotten me to the point I'm considering investing in a shot shell reloading set up.   :hmm
