Pump assist? (Vid)

Not sure how useful this is but if I were shooting my Mossberg one handed then the pump wouldn't (shouldn't?) travel back halfway under recoil. ;) Or if it did it would go back to the forward position.

    Wonder what that would be like on a Winchester Model 12? 

    You may recall that the Model 12 has no trigger disconnector.  If you hold the trigger down, it will fire every time you push the slide back forward and lock the action back into battery, until the magazine is empty!

    I was kind of wondering what it will do on something like a Winchester 1300 that often opens itself halfway on firing. Is it going to short stroke itself?

    That would create a primitive inertia operated system with the downside of only functioning with heavy loads.  It would also require a hands-off the forend hold.

    The Winchester 1200, 1300 and all its current design descendants * with a rotating bolt design, do not have a slide inertia lock. This is essentially a semi-auto design (aka Winchester 1400), without the gas system and return spring.

    If you fire one of 1200, 1300 family of pump shotguns without holding on to the forend, it will indeed self eject the fired shell.
