Indoor Range Buckshot Policy
« on: November 08, 2017, 03:58:10 am »
South Carolina indoor range only allows Flite Control buckshot.     :hmm

"Shotgun shooters are required to shoot slug or waded buck shot. Bird shot is strictly prohibited from being shot in The Range. Shotgun shooters are allowed to shoot Federal Flite Control waded buck shot.  Only Flite control waded buckshot or comparable waded buckshot will be allowed."

That range is just minutes away from me.
They don't like messes.  Also, the little tiny birdshot pellets bounce off the rubber backstop.  But it's nice that they allow some Buckshot.  Most ranges in the Greater Charlotte Area are SLUG ONLY.

Interesting. The range management must contend that non- Flite Control buckshot rounds would likely have such a rapid pattern spread that adjacent customer targets and range fixtures might be adversely affected.

That is the train of thought.   I've worked with all the indoor ranges around here... Except for that one.  And they have all had to stipulate such measures because of stupid people.

The range I used to frequent back in the Philly area limited you to buck or slugs for the same reason: lightweight birdshot pellets bouncing off the backstop and walls, and because of dumb@$$es being dumb@$$es and doing dumb@$$ things.

I get it. I’ll say this, Hornady CD Versatite patterns super-tight from my Ogre Special 870. Crap-O birdshot does not.

I can honestly say I’ve never shot the ceiling or seen anyone shoot the ceiling...but there’s a lot of holes in the ceiling at the indoor range I go to.

Next time you go to an Indoor Range, examine the ceiling.  You may be shocked.
