If they are considered about equal, and the Benelli likes the Federal FC, I will just stick with that.  It is no small matter that the Hornady is almost twice the price of the Federal Premium.

That said, I will spend twice the amount if I am getting an actual increase in performance, but it would have to be noticeable...

Both are good.  Very good.  I just like the Federal a little bit more though.  Like maybe 3% more.
But Federal also makes another load I REALLY like:

In fact, this is the exclusive shell I run in my 870 Police Magnum.  I had been a big fan of the Remington Slugger 3".  But this has taken the #1 slot for me.  It's very accurate.  And it penetrated both the front and rear ballistic panels of a vest from 20 yards.

The slugger didn't?   I ask because I know the Winchester slugs expand, a LOT.  My federals I tested by "dirt shooting" expanded as well, although not nearly as much, whereas the Remington sluggers stayed far more intant.

Or is that the "penetrating" truball they make?
