Another bit of shotshell history from 1947:
Remington introduced the Fold Crimp as the Remington flat crimp in 1947. Along with much fanfare about eliminating "...blown patterns caused by roll crimps." Later research discovered the blown or doughnut patterns were primarily the fault of the long card and fiber wad columns required when bulk smokeless powder was phased out during the late 1930's to the immediate post war years. Within three years the paper disk with load data over the fold crimp was discontinued and load information was printed on the side of the hulls.
