If it's anything like their other lathed steel slugs then it's a post machined in the base of the projectile that's press fit into the plastic base.  It takes some pressure to put on but can pop off with enough resistance.

    I don't think that you are mistaken, about the spelling or the construction.  IIRC the original Brenneke had a cork base held in place with simple wood screw.

    Very likely.  If they are spinning these off on a lathe anyway, it would be very easy to cut a groove or thread in the base, and then plug the piece into a die that injects the plastic right around it.

    Those were BRI sabot rounds. That scene was cool but they would not sail clear through an engine block.

    But that's Hollywood for ya.

    As for the Freedom Arms, it wasn't "too big" to hold 6. Too powerful would have been the more accurate reply. Was also long before Ruger came out with the SRH in .454.
