    The Protected Crimp concept was designed to reduce crimp damage often encountered with the daily loading and unloading occasioned in LE and guard use. 

    I suspect this was also a budget concern for departments that didn't want to spring for the higher cost of brass hull buckshot.    :coffee

    Yup. I've seen a few on collector sites but I think a lot of that old stuff went to the range as practice ammo for getting up to speed on qualification(s).
