Where to send my Saiga rifle? (sporter to AK conversion)
« on: March 31, 2012, 02:47:34 pm »
So I paid for my Saiga .223 today but left it at the shop.

I want to send it out ASAP for the conversion to standard AK pattern. Suggestions/links are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Crusader, if Joe is working on AKs again. I know that he or someone at Crusader was getting frustrated with the platform and some of the, ah, variability of spec that comes with the AK.

www.arizonaresponsesystems.com comes to mind as well ...

Gundoc might do it, though I suspect he'd send a stream of constant curses at you.    ;)

I've got to send him Black Sunshine too. I finally (apparently) have the extra cash to buy bullets and finally reload some test rounds for him. And I'm waiting on 6 more 25 round mags. Of course they showed up today via Fed Ex while I was setting up my LLC downtown. :(

Anyway, if he's willing to do it, I'll send the Saiga to him first. Once I get it back I will probably have the 300 rounds loaded up and then I can ship round two: my AR. :)

He just really doesn't like working on AKs. ;) From his description, it is kind of a PITA if you want to do it right.

Oh, I've heard him gripe, but I doubt he would send curses - he's just not that type...

You know, Grant, I think I'm gonna!

Actually he PM'd me about it. I'd much rather send it to a WTA guy anyway. :)

I'm not knocking anyone already mentioned, so don't take offense, but if one wants an AK converted, MNSHO is that Tony Rumore over at Tromix is the best there is.  Kinda like Hamilton Bowen with wheel guns.  You'll wait.  And you'll pay.  And it will be worth it.

HVS-  I have a couple 223 Saigas Tony did.  Several here on WTA have shot at least one of them.  I think they will all agree-  If you want a "Never going to sell, it's mine forever" AK, Tromix deserves a very hard look.
This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty. . . . The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction- St. George Tucker, Blackstone's Commentaries

Thanks. I've actually spoken with Tony on a few occasions and we've corresponded as well.

Perhaps anoher AK down the road. But this one is headed to MWC.

MWC, I think the problem is, most of us don't know what you can do/ what your capabilities are.  I have not yet needed you to work on anything, but others might have...

Maybe a thread would be in order, where you could list your specialties?

    Just a thought...

That's a good point, Kaso. I'll have to talk to a mod about what would be an appropriate way of reping the business on wta.

Do you happen to do any work on Saiga-12s?    I bought one a few years ago,  but I just haven't ever got around to getting it converted.

And Kaso nailed it, when it comes to first time builds, I do make screaming deals, I look at it this way, I would have to buy one myself to do the first time before I had any clue what to charge for it. So first time projects really, really benefit.

Magnolia Armory AR Mag adapter and the conversion kit w/SFS bumpfire stock is on it's way to Matt.

A little irked though. Saw this shortly after I placed my order.

    http://fostechoutdoors.com/

Yeah, it costs significantly more and weighs more but it's built nice and you can use any style grip.

Damn it! Looks like I'm placing an order for this too. I plan on having another AK and Krinkov-ing it. And maybe even a Saiga 12. So this 2nd stock will come in handy.

Still, had I seen this before I would have just bought the conversion kit sans bumpfire stock (came alltogether in the same package) and then purchased the Bumpski seperately.

    Oh, well.
