I just received an email from Ruger touting their new offering. I have to say I am interested. It ships from the factory with a magwell that accepts Glock magazines.

What say you?

Well it seems Ruger is on a roll with a suppressor ready PC Carbine that takes Ruger or Glock magazines and is a takedown model on top of that. Considering the cost of AR based PC carbines, Ruger may just have a winner - providing it is reliable, accurate and "affordable."

Now if this comes with a low profile take-down case...

I've got parts commonality from the AR platform; and more rounds
30rd Colt mags for 9mm
30rd GG mags for .45
(somebody needs to make a lower for Makarov magazines)

the take down feature is appealing..............but not enough to buy on its own

I'll end up buying one.

I have a 9mm AR pistol with a 7" barrel. It's awesome.

But a full size 9mm carbine calls for me too

One thing I wonder is the muzzle threads say 1/2X28......The HUUUUUGE majority of 9mm brakes are 1/2X36......so you dont interchange a .223 diameter hole when you need at least .355......

I wasn’t aware the threads for most brakes are .5x36.
I was happy to see the .5x28, my suppressor will fit nicely.

The more I look at it, the more I want it.

I have a PC-9 which doesn't really impress me. It is an OK carbine: Reasonably accurate and "handy" but heavier than it looks because of the heavy bolt. The P85 magazines are a little hard to find though I have enough to hold off a small zombie horde

. There is a lot of room for improvement but I like the idea of a reasonably priced 9mm carbine so I'll wait a bit and see how well Ruger addressed some of the shortcomings.

I second the assessment above of the Marlin Camp Carbine. I don't own one -- more is the pity -- but the ones I have shot were much better than the PC9. Maybe this will prompt Marlin to bring it back.

I like their handguns, especially the .22LR target Mark series (Mine is a Mark II Target) and like their little 10/22. But beyond that . . . not much of a fan.

I'm leaning toward something like the CHIAPPA FIREARMS M1-9 CARBINE 9MM. I just love the M1 Carbine. My dad carried one in WWII (he was one of the original Seabees) on Okinawa.

But it seems that the Chiappa has some serious quality control issues. Maybe someone else has an M1 Carbine clone in 9mm?

9mm seems like a much better choice than .30 Carbine as far as modern rounds are concerned. Just not hot for the Ruger.

Understandable. Does anyone even carry the Ruger American Pistol of theirs?

I have been curious about some of their bolt guns, and of course their revolvers are the cream of the crop, but other than that?

I considered getting the Chiappa M1 carbine, but just never got around to picking one up.

I REALLY like the Ruger American pistol. They hit a smash homerun on it. And sales of it did really well for about 2 weeks. And then MAC did a Video that had him b____ing about the beavertail being uncomfortable in his hand or some s___, and all the sudden sales just fluffing slammed to a stop, and then everyone complained that the frame hurt their hand. Well, let me tell you... I shot the hell out of it, and I never had a problem with the gun. The gun shot VERY WELL, very comfortable... But MAC fluffed over Ruger on this one. It's a great gun.

That's a shame to hear. I knew it had all the workings of a good handgun, I just never heard anyone talk about it

It is a shame. Because it's a dang good pistol that deserves better. But the Gun Industry is so fickle. Great guns get passed up for lesser hardware all because of popularity and Gun-Celeb Endorsement on YouTube. Last time I checked, there was a Turkish Made Clone that was becoming rather popular, and they are now going for more than these Ruger Americans... And people are buying the Turkish gun. And then Crying about replacement parts when they break.

I recall someone (probably you) mentioning this back when it was released. While you may have liked it, I can see how others might not. Let's be honest here, the whole geometry is a bit off. It could have been done better. I have never watched that 'MAC' video, (or really, more than a handful of his other ones, ever), but before I ever handled one, I could see where there might be an issue. Just by looking at pictures of it, you can see. Not for everyone, maybe not for me as I've never fired one. Not for you. But some guys are going to have trouble with it.

I know guys that had shot the gun with no issues... but after the MAC video, all the sudden it didn't work for them. They are MAC Acolytes and wont like any gun unless MAC likes it. The whole Gun Industry is like that - everyone's got their Go To Reviewers on YouTube.
Other industries are the same though...

I wish I was in a position to buy one, that looks like it has lots of nice features. I like PCC to accompany a pistol. We have two lever guns that meet that criteria currently, a Rossi 92 in .357, and a Marlin in .44. They are both lots of fun to shoot.

I really like the fact that it comes with a mag well for both the Ruger American mags, as well as for Glock mags. I have lots of 9mm Glock mags including several of the so called G 18 mags, as well as a couple of the Mag-Pul 21 round mags.

If I had bought a new nine mm, the top contenders were the Ruger American in 9, and the CZ75. Ruger probably would have won based on price and local availability. When I handled it I really liked the way it felt in my hand.
