Penguin, I really like your gear setup. I'm interested in the two piece MAV myself now. For a couple of reasons.
-I thought about going to a MOLLE/war/battle/whatever, hooyah belt and attaching the holster to that. The problem with this is incompatibility with backpacks. Any serious outdoor backpack has a waist strap, and in my experience you're advised to make use of it. Having a bunch of gear and pouches and holsters around your belly makes this problematic.
-I want to have my gear separate from my armor, so I can switch kit for different weapon systems.
-The two piece MAV doesn't have anything right on your belly, which will help shooting from the prone.
-It can hold 6-8 .308 magazine pouches, a medical kit, and reloads for the sidearm. That's about all you need, really. Since it doesn't have anything in the middle or on the chest (no two-piece MAV bib), my sidearm reload pouch is going to have to go to the left side, next to the rifle mag pouches. A little farther back than I prefer but no big deal. I think my custom, Retro Tactical 6x stacked speedloader pouch will fit back there. I can rig up a drop leg for the gun, easy enough, to get it out of the way of pack waist straps.
