Marlin 25 Bolt Action .22
« on: September 08, 2009, 01:36:35 am »
I got my hands on a Marlin 25 and have been using it to dust ground hogs all summer. I usually prefer my 39AS but this little rifle has impressed me. After I sited her in, it has killed everything I have pointed it at. It shoots shorts, longs, and long rifles. It has a 7 round mag, and a nice long stock. For $125 I couldn't turn it down but after looking they often sell for $125-150.

It would make a great first rifle and a efficient everyday varmint killer.

Sounds like a nice starting rifle.

I'll make a note, as I don't actually have anything yet.

Nice.  I want to get a good .22 for varmint killing here one of these days.

StevenTing has THE rifle for it too.  I've considered jacking him for it, but George was standing nearby.  Not that George would stop me, he'd just jack me for it afterward.

I have been doing most of my shooting in a populated area. Its on the edge of town, surrounded by highways and railroad tracks. Rimfire is my only option for killing hogs out here.

Although I am walking much further to get my shots in, compared to using the 22-250, it has allowed me to hone my stalking skills and shooting positions.
