What Remington doesn't tell you is that it doesn't really use any polymer at all. It may have that appearance, but that is all natural wood of a type rarely seen. It is carved from the heartwood of the Ugly Tree.

    Why is it "Worst Ever"?
First off, it's hideously ugly.  It has a face only Remington could love. Spongy feeling trigger.  Un-smooth action.  Points oddly. Feels odd.  Swings odd.  Feels super bulky in the foregrip.  There is just nothing on it that feels right or looks right.
Seriously, entry level basic shotguns from Stoeger and NEF look and feel better.
This 887 is just an exercise in Remington trying to make a polyshotty to compete with the Super Nova.  This is something Remington didn't need to even both trying to do.  If they wanted to do a Poly Coated pump gun - they should have just taken an 870 Express off the assembly line - do a spray and bake on finish - and then slap on the SPS type stocks with different colored inserts to denote the different, upper level gun.  Done.

This is a case of if it isn't broke don't fix it.  If somebody introduces a new product it is going to take market share - that is just the way it is.  The Nova is a decent gun, but not my cup of tea.  I think a lot of people still want wood and metal with their long guns and shot gun buyers tend to be a more conservative lot on my experience.

Hmm.  It looks like a Remington 870 had a one night stand with a Glock, and this is the poor b____rd child.   :vomit

Why would they cover the barrel in plastic?  Egad.

The barrel isn't just clad in plastic... pretty much, it IS plastic, with a steel liner.

Considering that nobody wants a shotgun that's too light and steel barreled guns don't seem to have much trouble achieving the proper weight and balance; there can only be one reason for Remington to do that - it's cheaper to make that way  :vomit

It`s to be competitive with the SuperNova.

Which is made out of plastic to be cheaper.

So it`s a commercial circle jerk that none of the manufacturers can win and is certainly a looser for the buyer.

I totally agree guys.  Cheaper is better for the Manufacturer.. but cheaper is just not as good for the Buyer.
The purpose of the 887, according to marketing is to have a tough as nails, go anywhere, do anything, pump action shotgun.  Which is what has me scratching my head because that's exactly how I would describe the 870.  I know guys that hunt birds... in the worst weather... and they use 870 Express shotguns.  What they do to protect the gun before going out?  They hose them down with WD-40.  When they get back, they do that again and hang the gun up to dry.  Pretty much it.  And you can argue about the value of doing that... but they have been hunting with the same 870's for decades if not longer.

Looks like the shotgun version of the 710.   Do they even still make that POS?

    Actually I have a buddy that has a 710 in 22-250.

It's consistently inaccurate and seems to have a loose bolt.

Well after looking at this POS, I'm not sure if it is the worst ever that Remington has ever come up with. How about the model 742??. Now there was a POS, But this is a shotgun thread so I will digress to this being the worst Shotgun that Remington has ever put on the drawing board and produced.

I shot a really light H&K shotgun once. Made target loads feel like slugs. Shotguns should be pretty heavy. If you want a long gun that's light, don't grab a shotgun. I mean, if you want to fire more than one shot.
