Korean FAL mags
« on: January 28, 2011, 08:54:24 pm »
Metric FAL mags are a bit hard to come by these days. I emailed DSA about a year ago asking what they meant by "coming soon" and got no response. As near as I can tell they are about as good at getting new stuff to market quickly as sturm ruger is..........
New talk of high cap magazine bans following recent events and the fact that I am not very patient by nature lead me to buy a few Korean FAL mags to try out. They just showed up so I have no range time with them yet, so I'm not sure what to think, but I'm already a bit worried. For one, the mag well fit is too tight. It isn't terrible, but these things are going to have to be removed by force once they are empty. The finish is good, the followers seem to go up and down just fine. Feed lips look OK. They do hold the bolt back on the last round, and they were inexpensive at $14.95 a pop if I allow myself to forget the good old days when DSA had used ones for $6 and they came with a new spring.
Anyway,  I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with these things or Korean mags in general, or any sorces for good FAL mags?
Thanks

I have a couple hundred of them. I could probably sell a few.

I've only got 23X20 rounders and 1X30 rounder.

Personally, if I want more, I'm buying surplus/used magazines.   Reports on the Koreans are so-so.  My own experiance with Korean AK magazines, and two others with Glock magazines, has made me prejudiced against the nation's ability to make magazines.  If you can mess up an AK..A AK magazine, you're really doing something.

I have no experince with them. I am looking for a good source for inch mags myself. I can find the metric ones around here but finding inch ones is proving dificult.

    Fnfnc,

Nice rifle! I had bought some surplus Austrian mags from DSA, don't know if they still have them. They work very well. You've handled one or two of them when you when we went shooting last year. I have some extra mags if you want. Give me a call some time.
