Hesse: Quality Unbounded
« on: August 13, 2016, 06:00:28 pm »
I went to pick up a steel target the other day. I love going to gun shops, just to see the used gun shelf. New stuff, unless interesting or unbelievably practical, doesn't hold my interest.

While waltzing through, I found a Hesse-made CETME clone.

Man, check out those welds.  :thumbup1

That's got "face grenade" written all over it. That really irritates me. How can you let something that crappy out of your shop? No pride and no shame all rolled into one.

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

This was sharing the rack with two terribly sporterized 1903A3s, with bad crowns and sloppy, loose stocks. No good finds to be found.  :coffee

Though the Hesse stole the show. I wish I had taken more pictures of the s___ty receiver.

I will never understand why any rational human would ever buy a Hesse .50 cal. That's a lot of powder. If it detonates the wrong way (see video), you're in for a bad day. Some things you should never cut corners on.

You mean like the chinsy way the bolt is locked and compounding that problem is the lower quality metal it's constructed from?
    What could go wrong?
You mean the bolt isn't supposed to fly back into your shoulder like a spear gun?  That's crazy talk.
