I did a search for plated bullets to see if I could find some less expensive bullets than Berry's.  For 45's, they're about $20-40 cheaper per 1000.  While Berry's includes free shipping, Xtreme uses a flat rate box.  I assume their shipping to be $15 for 1500 bullets.

Anyone use them or heard of them?

Mainly, I'm looking for something to shoot from a USP/Poly barrel.

Nope.  I have not.  If others don't chime in with first hand experience and you want to try them?  Buy them, then pull a random 50.  Mic them for diameter and length.  Weigh them to check for consistency there.  If they fall in spec, load up a hundred and see if they do well in your gun.

I use Xtreme bullets but in 38 spl and 357 so my experience may not be apply to your requirements.  In my experience they are a better bullet than Berrys or Rainier.  My "normal" load are 1200 fps or less but I did push the 158 gr SWC up to almost 1700 fps from a Marlin with no apparent ill effects. That was an unusual case and even in the rifle I try to keep them at 1400 fps or less.

The bullets I use have a cannelure in them so I can use a real crimp. I don't know if the 45 bullets will have one or not.

Thanks for the feedback.  Makes me feel a little bit better.  I'll probably order some before the weekend.  It's nice that their in NV.  Means that they'll arrive quickly.

I've done a little more googling on the company and the reviews are mixed.  Some people said they've used them for a while and are decent.  Others, said they couldn't wait to get rid of what they had.  The main concerns were with accuracy.  Someone said 4-5 inch groups at 10 yards.  That's scary bad.

I guess what I don't understand is, what is it about a bullet that makes them different than others?  I thought a bullet was just a bullet.  A 230 grain round nose should function the same whether from Berry's, Ranier, or Xtreme.  At least that was my original assumption.

I guess I need to start a new thread on inexpensive plated pistol bullets with good accuracy.

Uniformity. How consistent are the bullets from one to the next in terms of roundness, diameter, hardness, thickness of the plating, etc. All those sorts of issue will affect how the bullet behaves in the gun and one it leaves the muzzle.

Some other seemingly small factors will also throw some randomness into the system even if they're consistent from one bullet to the next. A beveled base will load easier, but it will also tend to upset the bullet as it leaves the muzzle more than a flat base would. An alloy that leaves too much metal fouling in the bore will quickly cause accuracy issues.

With plated bullets the crimp makes a difference too.  First batch I tried (Ranier) I put too much crimp on then and a few lost the jacket going downrange.  Some left two clear holes in the paper.  After I started using a taper crimp, they shot OK.  I tried Berry's next anf they seemed to be more accurate.  I tried Xtreme because a local retailer stocks them and they are a bit less money than Berry's or Rainier.  In my guns, the Xtreme are the most accurate of the three.  Also, as I said before, they have a cannelure so I can put a roll crimp without breaking the plating.  This seemed to make them less flashy (Power Pistol) and more uniform velocity-wise.

I haven't tried them in 45 ACP because I am still working on the last batch of Berry's 230 gr RN I bought.

Steve, I stand by my previous post.  Add to that-  Remember- each gun is a law unto itself.  We can discuss them all day long, but that doesn't tell us how they do in your gun.  For a light crimped high volume, low pressure practice load, they may be just the ticket.  Fist hand experience required for true judgement, eh?

New guy here. this is a great forum. I actualy got 1000 200 grain swc from them. they average a .5 grain diffrence from bullet to bullet.they are a plated round and did fine for me . I was shooting a xdm 45 5.25 . at 20 yards. about a 4 inch group. 5.3 grains of BE and 1.23 AOL. not the most accurate round but great for practice rounds. That being said though. I have found cheaper deals on cast. my next batch will be with some Badman Bullets.

I'd say 4 inch rounds at 20 yards is pretty decent.  I still haven't ordered any yet.  Wife has other projects that require money.
