Berdan Primers in Boxer Brass
« on: March 11, 2013, 08:03:45 am »
No I'm not asking how to convert berdan to boxer. That appears to have been beaten to death all over the interweb.

I found some berdan primers, cheap, and want to know if I can simply load and shoot them in normal boxer brass?

I don't think so.  Even if they fit, Berdan-brass has the anvil as part of the primer pocket, not part of the primer.  The Berdan primers will only go off if set in Berdan-primer-pockets.

Hmm, might need to drive down to Winfield and get some.  I have a bunch of old berdan brass I saved just in case I ever found any primers.

uh oh, better call first.  I just looked at their website and it says no walk-in business.  place an order, and they'll have it ready for you to come pick up in person in about 3 weeks.   :shocked

Must be quite a beehive in that place!

Yeah I figured.  Still far cheaper to drive 30 miles than to pay shipping and hazmat.

I have a bunch of berdan primed ammo in .303 British and 7.5x54mm.  If I can get primers I'll start to save it.
