Small Rifle v. Small Pistol Primer
« on: April 27, 2014, 10:59:07 pm »
Anyone ever use Small rifle primers in their 9mm or .40?  Someone told me this is what they do so they only have to buy one type of primer for their pistol and primer.  This really got me thinking, why not?

We discussed it previously here: https://wethearmed.com/reloading-and-handloading/difference-between-rifle-and-pistol-primers/

Short answer - It could work but you may get light strikes in a pistol and you will have to work up from starting loads, and the use of a chronograph would be highly recommended.

Can't believe you remembered that from 3 years ago.  Thanks.

Dang, that's been a while. If I were down to those levels of primers now I'd be in total panic mode! :panic

I probably still have most of those rifle primers, too.
