Need Data For 8 X 57 Using 185 gr. Core-Lokt.
« on: May 02, 2009, 04:35:52 pm »
Greetings,
I've come into a quantity of the aforementioned Remington bullets, and I would like to load them using IMR 4064.  My rifle is a K98 in excellent condition.  I haven't found any data for that specific bullet, and would appreciate any help from someone who can steer me to some.  Thanks.

WARNING: This information is no substitute for valid reloading data and depending on your gun, brass, primers, powder lot, and bullets; any actions taken based on my post may result in your untimely demise.
Have you looked at the data from Hodgdon? They don't list that particular bullet, but they do list other bullets in 180, 200, and 220 grains with IMR 4064. Interestingly almost all the data for all those bullet weights starts at 40 grains of powder. If I was you, I'd start at 40 grains of IMR 4064 and work up to a max of 44 grains. Since I'm not you, use your best judgment.

I noticed that too, and will probably do that.  It makes sense. I'd still like to hear from anybody who has worked with that particular  Remington Bullet though.  I've had pretty good results loading that round with a 150 gr. Hornady SP and an RCBS cast bullet (with 2400), but I got a deal on a quantity of these Remingtons and as 4064 is my "general purpose" powder I keep plenty of that on hand too.  I appreciate your response JesseL.
