Need a source for rifle primers

Hey, y'all,

Springmom and I are trying to find primers for rifle cartridges we're getting into hand-loading:  .243 Win,  .30-06,  and .223 mostly.

We cannot find primers anywhere.  Does anyone know of a source, either in the Houston area (or Austin, our kids could pick 'em up for us) or online, that has primers in stock and for sale?  The local dealers we've tried are not only out, they say they have no idea when they will get more.

    To clarify:  Cabelas has them backordered but will allow the purchase to go through...but I'm not willing to pay the Haz Mat cost for it.  That's highway robbery.  Or at least I'm not yet desperate enough to pay the HazMat cost.  If I'm still looking six weeks from now I might rethink that  :neener

    I don't remember how I found this place, but here is an online possibility I am considering.  He *seems* to have rifle primers in stock at somewhat higher prices (maybe $27.50 per 1000 for CCIs) but being able to find them at any price is becoming attractive.

    I just got through to them on the phone.  They're kind of snippy   :bash
    They won't confirm what they have or don't have, you have to place an order.  Once you place an order, they'll call or email you to ask if you want to backorder, if they don't have it.  Not all that convenient but I may still give it a try.

    From a different thread somewhere else, on the same subject.   Short answer- try calling Powder Valley and see what they say.  In an age of RFID tags on pallets and computer inventory systems I would have thought the web site would be up to date, but maybe not.  if you call and can get through to some of these places, they may be able to fill an order despite their website saying they're out.

    At this point, I'd go ahead and pay the hazmat fee IF you can find some available.  They're so scarce you probably ought to take what you can get.

    I have one local shop that has a few, mostly because they're limiting buyers to 2,000 at a whack.  Other than that, haven't seen any in a couple weeks.
