For my 30-30, 32 grains VARGET, and either CCI or Winchester primer with a 150g semi jacket round or flat nose.   

13.0 Grains of Red Dot or Promo under a cast 170 gr gas checked lead boolit in .308

boys love shooting the Ishapore Enfield - we also load these in 30-06 cases for the M1 garand - turns it into a straight pull bolt gun but 10 - 11 year old boys think they're big stuff shooting the M1

This may not quaify as a "heavy" load because it still below the published maximum.  It does, however  give both good performance and accuracy in both of my Marlins.  It is shootable from the SP-101 or 686 but not something I'd want to shoot all day at my advanced age and state of decrepitude.

My favorite .40S&W load is a competition load that will not work in factory guns. You need to have your barrel freebored because I load them way over max OAL. Also, cannot vouch for it being within factory spec in any other way. If you have a 2011 pistol, you are free to work up to this load, which is what I did.

I made about 950FPS out of a 5in bbl on Thursday with 4.8gr of 231 and no high pressure signs. I haven't chrono'd the 5.0 load yet, but I've shot at least 1,000rds of that load with only slight primer flattening.

I shoot almost the same 40 load myself, just at a COL of 1.100" instead of your 1.187".  I used to load it at 5.1 W231 and would get about 900-950 fps out of that (4" barrel) but for the last year I've been loading my 40s down to about 4.5 grains of W231.  Lee home-cast 175 LFP or LSWC bullet, tumblelubed.  Less leading at 4.5 W231 than 5.1 W231.  Works well in Springfield XD40 and in Glock 23 with aftermarket barrel.

I offer this since I have a lot of H-4895 and it turns out to be under appreciated for use with lighter 5.56/.223 loads.

Group size is at or close to one MOA at 100 yards.

I do a lot of hunting with the .280 Remington.  Not so common, but very effective and efficient 7mm, based on the '06 case, pushed out an extra .050" to prevent accidental chambering in .270 rifles.

My normal recipe for flat shooting open country deer hunting for the .280 is the Nosler 140 BT (.485 BC), ahead of 57.0 grains of RL-19.   Out of a 24" barrel it chronos 3050.  That is a max load, but is safe in all three of my .280's including a rarely used Rem. 742 autoloader, which can be finicky with max pressure handloads. 2900-2950 out of the autoloader's shorter 22" barrel. 

In my 24" barreled bolt guns at 3050 fps, this is within 100-120 fps of what I am getting from my 7mm Mag rifles with 140 grain bullets.   Less powder, less recoil, lighter, handier rifles, so I see no real reason to shoot the 7 mags much any more.

There.  Now that ya'll are awake, it's been too long since anyone has posted any favorite loads:

These all work well for me, in my firearms.  The standard warnings apply: Use at your own risk, Your mileage may vary, Start 10% down from max loads and work up, Etc., Etc.

9mm - 120gr Lee TC lead, 4.8gr of Bullseye shoots best in my SR9c.  My bullets drop from the mold at about 118gr. 

.223 - 55gr, Remington bulk rounds,  24.8gr of H335.

.30 M1 Carbine - approx 110gr LRN, gas checked, 12.0gr of 2400.  Matches S&B factory ammo at 100 yards out of my carbine.

.38 Special - 155gr GC bullet, w/o the GC.  5.0 gr Unique.

.40S&W - 175gr Lee TC lead, 7.4gr of HS-6.

.45 Colt - 15.0gr 2400.

.30-06 - 165 Remington Core-Lokt, 57.0gr IMR4350.  I load slightly long and get a bit better group (3 shots almost covered by a penny), but loaded to the cannelure is still nickel sized groups at 100 yards.  Unfortunately, Remington is no longer selling these bullets for reloaders, so it looks like I get to start over with Sierra Game Kings.

For the .45 Colt:  a 300 gr. bullet ahead of 23.0 gr. of H-110 (or W-296) in a Ruger Blackhawk or an old model Vaquero.  DO NOT use this load in any of the .45  Colt reproductions, it's stupid high pressure.  (Closing in on 30K PSI.)  It's in the Ruger/TC Contender section of most reloading manuals.

I've bumped the 7mm-08 load from 39.9 gr. of RL-15 to 41.5 gr.  Still shoots inside 1/2 MOA in all six Savage rifles in that caliber.  (Since I posted that last one, I've added another Minion, and a truck gun.)

For the .30-06, a 165 gr. bullet over 50.0 gr. of RL-15 works really well.
