Fiocchi Small Rifle primers?
« on: September 12, 2009, 10:32:50 pm »
Any experience reloading with 'em?  Good, bad, indifferent?

Flat busted for small rifle primers (and way low on my .223 stash). I've always just stuck with CCI but found some Fiocchi in stock and placed an order.  Figured the Fiocchi ammo I've shot has been fine so...

BasinSports.com, I think we have CCI and Federal.
You have to pay a 20 dollar hazmat though.

Blackeagle603-  I'm in the same boat as you.  Good experience with their ammo, I didn't even know they offered components.  Looks like you're our test mule........

Right now I'm inclined to buy any primers I find at decent price.

George,  How much for 5k of the CCI?

Speaking of which, what is a good price for primers? I'm just building my bench and reloading setup so I don't know if the prices I've seen so far are good or not.

    What's a good price for 100, 500, 1000?

If you can find them at or under $30.00/1000 you're doing well in the current market.

Unfortunate, but true.  I buy at $30/1000.  I have yet to buy anything over that.  A couple months ago I was still getting primers at $21/1000 but that hole is dry.

Agree.  Back in March my 'local' store (50 miles away) was still selling them for $27 per 1000.  Saw them at a gunshow this summer and their price, as well as every other price of anyone with primers to sell, was $45 per 1000.

:hmm  to think a little over a year ago I could and did just go online to Powder Valley and buy 15k of whatever I wanted at about $23 per 1000  plus some S&H :(

That's why when I do buy, I buy  A LOT(for me at least).  Most of my primers have stickers on them between 9.99 and 13.99 per thousand round sleeve, with the odd one here or there at 17.99/1000.  But, if I do get much lower, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet if I can find them. :cuss

As it is I sold a few hundred here and there to a couple co-workers that were needing hunting ammo loaded up and couldn't find primers locally.

I held my nose and ordered 4500 of them (they come in 1500 qty pack). With Hazmat and shipping worked out to $36/1000.  Ouch.  That's a long ways from last years bulk buy at $24/1000.
