Like many folks, I collect all the brass I can, but I don't reload for all of it. What to do with all that unused brass?

The Brass Exchange.

Here's the idea.
1. You post what brass you have, how much, condition of brass, what you want in exchange, etc. The info provided is up to you, but caliber and have-vs-want at a minimum. i.e. "I HAVE 9mm, I WANT .308"

2. Someone sees your post and says, "Oh, I need some of that!" From here on out, negotiations are done via PM

3. The two parties decide the exchange rate, and do business.

Ideally, the exchange will work brass-for-brass. The only money involved should be shipping costs, again decided among the parties involved. If you're looking to SELL brass, do it in the Post Exchange.

This will all be done in good faith. We The Armed does not assume any responsibility for deals gone bad. We'd like them reported to moderators, but we're not going to pay for anything you lost. You decide if you want to make a deal with the other party.

I have to trade:
-Lots and lots of 9mm brass (thousands)
-Possibly several hundred 40SW brass cases (have to make sure I have enough left over after trading for myself)
-Some 45GAP brass (maybe 50)
-Some 38Super brass (maybe 50)
-Some 45 (I have one or two thousand but want to keep enough for myself, so probably limited to several hundred)

All brass is as I picked it up, dirty but not filthy.  No guarantees (because I don't know myself) how many times fired each piece is.  This is the stuff I throw in my tumbler and reload for myself so there's nothing wrong with any of it that I know of.

I can also trade as many cast bullets as you want, in return for your brass:
Pistol cast bullets, all bullets sized with sizer die and tumble lubed with Alox or Rooster Jacket.  Pistol bullets are cast from a 50-50 alloy of lead and wheelweights, then water quenched.  I measured them at about BHN 17.
9mm 125LTC or 125LRN
40SW 170LFP
45 230LRN or 230LFP
357 158LSWC
380ACP 102 grain 0.356" (they work all right in my 380)

Rifle cast bullets (water quenched from straight wheelweights, not sure of the BHN hardness but harder than the pistol bullets):
308 120LRN (great for M1 Carbine, I run them at 1840 fps without problems)
8mm 165 pointed lead bullet 0.323"
0.312" 165 lead pointed bullet for 7.62x54R and 7.62x39
0.308" 165 lead pointed bullet (0.312" sized down to 0.308")

And, I have 525 grain Lyman 12 gauge slugs (Foster slugs).  These are the ones that look like a little lead badminton birdie with a big flat face.  These are pure lead, no wheelweight

I want:
308 and / or 7.62NATO brass so long as it's Boxer primed
44Magnum brass but will also trade for 44 Special
7.62x54R boxer primed brass such as the Prvi Partizan

I have enough of but will consider trading for
8mm Mauser brass, 30-06 brass, 7.62x39 brass


I have made a number of mutually profitable trades like this many times in the past.  Priority Mail (USPS) is I think the way to go, only about $10 for up to 70# if it will fit in the box.  I once traded several thousand cast bullets for a bunch of brass and the box tipped the scales at 68#, heh heh, I got one over on the USPS that time.  The more stuff each of us packs in our boxes, the more stuff we each get for our $10.

Whether the trade is my brass for your brass, or my bullets for your brass, here's how I like to work it and everyone's been happy so far:
-total up all the pieces you have to trade, and calculate a $ value based on what some commercial place like Blue Star Brass or whoever is charging.
-we then calculate how many bullets or pieces of my brass equals the same $, using the same website for pricing
-that's the amount we trade of each, so everyone's getting fair value for whatever it is you're trading

This system has worked pretty well and I like it, we each get something we like for about $10.  We just don't do the trade unless the estimated value of each box is way above $10.

I've also got a ton of once-fired .40 brass (I don't have a .40 anymore). I've also got 9mm, and .223, although I don't know if I want to part with it, I plan on reloading for those calibers. But might be prompted to get rid of it.
