Well, just like the bullets I bought because they were on the shelf, I bought a 4lb jug of Winchester 231 today. The only complaint I had with that powder was getting my press messy, which you guys told me was pretty much standard. It will work for 9mm, so if I can use the same powder for all my pistol loading, that's one less kind of powder I have to keep track of. I just have to adjust the powder measure to drop a grain or two less. Planning to experiment this weekend. Tomorrow I'm going to switch the Dillon over to 9mm, and once I get the powder adjusted, I'll probably load all 500 bullets I bought today, and shoot one, hopefully two matches this weekend.

I realize this topic is old, but have you considered using 147 grain bullets?  It's a pretty soft load and easier to make minor with.  I use Titegroup (because I bought a 4# jug awhile ago), which uses pretty light charges (I've heard some discrepancies on velocity between the loads, which I haven't had the chance to verify because I shot my chrono a couple of months ago  :banghead ), but I have two friends who use WST with good results (one shoots 9mm major in Open, the other an XD Tactical in Production).

I bought Bayou Bullets from Donnie Miculek, and he told me 2.8 of Titegroup makes minor with the 147 grain.  Hodgdon's manual says 3.3.

    I need a chrono  :doh

I haven't tried 147gr bullets. I bought almost a case of Montana Gold 115gr FMJ's, and I still have a ton. That was before I learned heavier bullets shoot softer. Not that they're snappy or the slightest bit unpleasant.

The press is back to .40 right now, so I haven't been loading 9mm for a few months. Those are getting 175gr lead, and are quite pleasant out of my STI Edge.
