9mm Loading
« on: January 30, 2014, 01:46:44 pm »
I am completely brand new to the reloading idea. I have read a couple of threads already and I have taken some notes. I am more geared to reloading for my Spring Field XDM 5.25 competition series. However I also have a beretta 92 series will there be any conflict when I start? Or would I be able to use the same amount of power in each one?

Both pistols should be safe for any loads that are within the load book's specifications.

You may find they have different preferences when it comes to accuracy though.

Your biggest challenge right now is finding powder.  But as Jesse said you should be good to go in either gun.

I use Accurate Arms #7 for my 9mm loads, and it works very well. Accurate #2 and 5 are also good 9mm powders. tailor your loads to good load data - Accurate Arms has an excellent free downloadable load data guide on their website.

I like Win231 for 9mm and .40, and soon .45. Bullseye is also popular for 9mm.

Bullseye is a very touchy powder for 9mm for a new reloader.  For example, my data states that starting load for 115gr FMJ is 5.1gr of Bullseye, max load is.... 5.1gr :facepalm.  I really like Unique, much more forgiving
