My 45 Colt old model Vaquero can handle higher pressures but after playing around with hotter loads I've settled in at top of (or just above std pressure loads) for most of my 45 Colt shooting. The extra muzzle flip of hotter loads just isn't worth it to me.
My 2 favorite loads for (ahem) social work?
1) Cast 255gr SWC
2) 240 JHP
CCI LP primers, Starline brass, both over 8.5gr Unique. Unique: is there any other powder for 45 Colt?
Of course the hardcast 310gr SWC hogslayers waiting at my bench to be loaded are a whole 'nother story. Those are going to be loaded to painful, crushing, unpublishable (but carefully & methodically approached) levels .
Also I still have a mess loaded up (~300) with 255gr RNFP 'cause I got a great deal on 500 old stock bullets locally.
