Bear in mind, that he wrote this song when he was a homesick 17-year old, in France, the first time he'd ever been away from home.

    My second favorite Guiness commercial:

    And my first favorite:

Yeah, I know they aren't really songs, but they really hit a spot inside me!

Not sure how Ritchie Blackmore went from lead guitarist for Deep Purple to doing something like this, but I really enjoy it!  May not be everyone's cup of tea, but you have to admire the artistry, if nothing else.  It's something he wrote in tribute to his late cat, Possum.

Well, for my part I am glad you shared the Guinness commercials with us. They kind of tugged at me a bit as well.   :thumbup1

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

    To the New Year:

Auld Lang Syne* sung by Dougie MacLean

    * Scottish poem written in 1788 by Robert Burns.

Wow....I didn't know anyone in America had heard of Dougie Maclean.
I didn't catch this thread until today... bit late to the party ....
Circa early 1990s,  I visited Scotland...Loch Ness has a small museum on its north Shore regarding the infamous Nessie,  complete with appropriate music to accompany each part of the exhibit.   They sold cassettes of the music at the exit.  The score was written by Maclean.  Today I have it on CD.
It's a pretty evocative,  atmospheric score ... probably not to everyone's taste,  but I like it!

Fun fact: all of the sailing jargon they use is accurate.

Yup.  Apparently Stephen Stills is a fairly accomplished sailor and he and Jimmy Buffet hit it off pretty good on that account.  OK - maybe there was some rum involved but you didn't hear it from me.    :whistle

For the record, that video is probably the most savoy cabbage seen anywhere outside a produce warehouse.  Good song but the video is just plain weird.   :coffee
