Eastern State was the 'model' prison in it's day.  It was famous for hosting Al Capone and being featured in 12 Monkeys.  Both Eastern State and the Rodin are really neat.  The next time you are in town you must see the USS Olympia and the Museum of Art (the armory is quite good).

I've lived in the area my whole life and my father threatened to send me to ESP a few times ::)

MichiganFolks keep talking about another Civil War.  One side knows how to shoot and has a trillion bullets.  The other side has crying closets and is confused about which bathroom to use.  How do you think that war is going to end?

Certainly not my best work, but one of my favorite subjects. It was on a ramp at last year's Gold Cup, but I didn't have a camera. This year I brought it and wouldn't you know it.......flat and a far worse location. ::)

Sarge, that is some beautiful land you are in there. Especially during winter. We have driven through that area, I was lucky enough to wake up before dawn, and saw the morning fog hanging over the land in that half-light before the sun comes over the horizon, there is something beautifully eerie about the stillness in those hours, you feel as though nothing else is alive in the world, like time has stopped, and you are the only thing left moving.

At least, I assume we were still in that part of Appalachia, it fits the amount of time I had been sleeping.

Thanks! I love it here tho' lately its been raining too much, like Washington state too much. My family has been here in Western NC since the early 1700's. I would rather live here than anywhere else except somewhere in the boonies out West. We may move out West somewhere isolated when I retire. Otherwise we have a near ideal place to sit out any "troubles" that will beset the rural areas like Atlanta, Charlotte or Asheville. I just hope my brother can make it here to our place when that happens.

    What I did today:

Bat stars are pretty neat.  Sea stars in general are very efficient predators.  This is why they haven't really evolved, there is no need for them.

    Yes, like a shuriken.  >:D

We also had some other sea stars and some decorator crabs that the diver picked up for us.

Until that boat trip, I had never heard of decorator crabs.  They are interesting in that they wear a "ghillie suit" of algae and stuff to blend in.

This one, for example, is rocking some little anemones (which like to stick to rocks in tide pool and stuff).

oops   :o     This was taken just moments after the crane dropped the 40 foot steel I beam on the lift, which was occupied at the time. The occupant bailed over the side and was not hurt, he did go home for some clean underwear.
