Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

Oh great.  Is it Destroyah or Legion?  It helps to know this so we know which Kaiju to effectively pit against it.

Nope, but there is a fair collection of new anime (including Knights of Sidonia, and Attack on Titan)... There's also a pretty good Captain Harlock CGI movie...

I have been up in Canada this week for work.  Not much to do at night besides watch Netflix on the Firestick I brought with me.  Stumbled across an anime called Steins;Gate that is pretty good.  It is about a college student that is a paranoid conspiracy theorist and wannabe mad scientist.  He accidentally invents a way to send text messages into the past and freaky time travel stuff ensues.  They incorporate a lot of elements from that John Titor thing that was all over the Internet and Coast to Coast AM about 15 years ago.  The first episode is a bit hard to follow due to the weird chronology and paranoid rantings from the protagonist,  but I am 4 episodes in and it is starting to come together now.  Unfortunately, I think it is only on Canadian netflix, so I will have to binge watch it all before I go home or use a proxy when I get back.

Ok, finished binge watching the series.  It was brilliant.  Probably the best time travel SF story I have ever seen. The first half starts a little slow since it is mainly setup as they gradually puzzle out how time travel works.  It is a slow burn and seemingly minor details will lead to horrific consequences later (or is that earlier?  ;))  The second half is sort of a dystopian version of Groundhog Day with bits of the Terminator and Back to the Future 2 mixed in.  It also had some genuinely hilarious moments and references sprinkled throughout.

The voice acting is all top notch, and since it is set in a version of 2010 that is supposed to mirror the real world, it is blessedly free of the usual stupid anime tropes.  It is kind of annoying they could not use real brand names.  So IBM is referred to as IBN, CERN is SERN, the characters drink DK Pepper, etc.  That is a minor quibble though.  The art style is not over the top.  Similar to Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell.  I highly recommend it.   I don't think it is on US netflix yet, but it is probably online somewhere.  Stick with the dubbed version.
