Title: Bought an authentic handmade Alaskan Ulu!
Post by: wyatt on February 04, 2018, 06:57:06 am
I've wanted an authentic vintage style Ulu for a long time. When I was in Alaska I didn't see any that I wanted. I didn't have much time in Ketchikan where I'm sure there Ulu's for tourists with a big moose antler handle and a picture of a bear or a salmon on it, I wanted one that would actually be used by the First Nations people. I ran across this video and quickly bought the Ulu they were selling. It's exactly what I've been looking for. It's handmade from a saw blade by an Alaskan. I'm excited about it!

You peaked my interest. Showed it to the wife. She said get one. Sold out!
That’s my luck.

Yeah, Dave Whipple only made 20 of them and they sold out in a few hours. I'm sure that was a lot of work!

I have an old two man five foot crosscut saw I found in a dump in Louisiana that would make a sack full of Ulu's but I lack the tools to make them.
