A thumbs up for Benchmade
« on: December 22, 2010, 01:09:45 am »
Have a 9-10 year old 440c that accompanied me across 6 continents during my AF life, that had been sharpened many times by pros, amateurs, and horrific knifekillers (me).

I sent it in for the free ($5 return shipping) sharpening service last week, and got it back today (they received it 12/15, took a day to work on it, and shipped it back UPS 3 day).

They cleaned a decade worth of crap from it, returned a factory edge to the original beat to crap blade, lubricated everything, and included a replacement pocket clip/hardware but didn't actually replace the  one on the knife that had the finish just about totally removed- but they replaced the screws holding it on :)

Overall, I am very satisfied with the turnaround and service provided.  The $5 that I paid did not cover 1/4 of the service/parts/shipping that I received.

This knife now gets to enjoy retirement to my shtf bag.

I have a Benchmade Mini-Pika that one of the pocket clip screws fell out of, I emailed them asking if they could send a replacement screw, their sending me a whole replacement pocket clip set for free. It's not much, but it's nice of them.

Had a similar experience with Kershaw.  Had a Chive where the torsion broke.  Sent it in and they sent me back a new knife.

I have a CQC7 for EDC.  Your post reminded me I've been meaning to send if for resharpening.  It's been there a couple times.  Great service!
