I love the idea that they did this to thumb their noses at the NFA and California...
But I hope they don't honestly think of this as a really compelling product for the masses.

I agree it's not for the masses - hardly anybody shoots muzzle loaders anymore. I think it would be useful for hunting deer near populated areas where a rifle shot would annoy the neighbors.

Notice the recommended powder is Blackhorn 209 - essentially a modern version of Bulk Smokeless Powder.

Good info, I didn't know any of that. I've only used Goex black powder.

Even the cleaning recommendations for Blackhorn 209 are different from Black Powder or other Black Powder Substitutes:

"Blackhorn 209 is virtually free of solid residue. Only a thin film of soot remains in the barrel. After using Blackhorn 209, your barrel can easily be cleaned with a standard oil-based solvent. We recommend either Montana X-Treme’s Blackhorn 209 Cleaning Solvent, which is specifically formulated for Blackhorn 209, or Montana X-Treme’s Cowboy Blend Solvent. Using water or other muzzleloading solvents to clean your barrel is not recommended."

I had a neighbor who swore by the stuff in his black powder cartridge rifles.   Anybody want to wager a dollar that they sell less than 500 of those OP contraptions nationally?    :coffee

I think it is a big FU to California/New Jersey, more than a best seller.  But it is cool.  If I had a use or any other muzzle loaders, and the price was right, I would be all over this.

I really like the innovation that SilencerCo and other silencer companies are showing.  I really need to get on this band wagon.

Many quality modern 209 ignition muzzleloaders are already close to the retail price point of the Maxim 50.
