21st Century Intrusions from the 18th century
« on: October 04, 2017, 01:19:47 am »
I stumbled across this and thought the word picture worth sharing. Here is my introduction and a link:

Let us journey down this road...

Picture an old man, 18th century garb, a long 20 bore fowler at hand and a fine morning afield. Then a doe, interupting the stillness and offering only a moment in which to launch the leaden sphere. The front and only sight is clear, the cock - already drawn - snaps forward, sharp flint to steel hammer, white smoke billows...

Good story, thank you!  That was a fun read!

I enjoy hunting with a Dixie TMR (left-handed, .50 caliber) mainly because it's probably very similar to the rifle carried by my umpteen-times-great-grandpa when he moved his family here from Tennessee in 1821.

I guess the rationale is "if you don't know where you come from, how do you know where you're going?"

Good story.  Makes me want to get my hands on another muzzle loader.   :hmm
