ITRC competition in WY
« on: August 13, 2009, 03:08:16 am »
George,

What a bummer you couldn't get to the ITRC competition with Larry!  The MadOgre and the Monster Hunter joining forces would have made an epic team.  Would have been a nice bonus for SWAT magazine too.  So are they paying his way?  I checked out the website http://www.surefire.com/ITRC and it looks like it should be a blast.

Minimum recommended cartridge allotment per team is 300 rounds per rifle, 800 rounds per carbine, and 800 rounds per pistol.
That's a lot of trigger pullin'.

I'll be in Cody on Saturday and I would have been tempted to swing out there to spectate for a day just to see you guys team up.  Hopefully you can do it next year.  Might be good for your business.  You could probably even get some good video to use for marketing so you could write it off as a business expense.

    Yeah, that's the one.

     :banghead

Seriously - If it wasn't for a Work obligation, I would be there no second thought.  But that is seriously the only weekend outside of the Christmas Rush that I can't get away from.  ANY OTHER weekend and I would have been there.

Yes, it would have been Epic.  Songs would have been written... Statues would have been chiseled from marble... books and movies would have been made... Fear and Loathing in Gillette with Guns... Contracts would have been signed... and nachos would have been eaten... and YouTube videos would have been shot.  It would have changed the world from the sheer force of so much concentrated awesomeness in one area.  Tidal shifts.  Quakes.  Lunar Phase disruption.  Mecca would have been relocated West.  Cliver Barker would have hid under his bed, and Chuck Norris would have soiled himself.

    This is for the best.

And if Shep and the Wolf had shown up....dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

I was going to suggest Shep to Larry as an alternative... but Larry already had talked to another guy about it.
If I had gone, I'd have dragged Larry up to Lance Creek for a quick visit.  Shown Ruben the laser again...

Yeah, it is a major bummer.

We're still trying to work out details. They need us in Gillette by Thursday night at 19:00. Which sucks, because Dave is having a hard time getting off of work, and that is two days I have to take.  I've already scheduled a ton of vacation because I'm doing a mini-book tour. (When Dave Farland invites you along on his book tour, you darn well better go!)

Darn short notice opportunities. I'd kick myself for not going though.

Well, I hope it comes together for you, Larry.   I'm curious if you're going to run with that Saiga you've been working on.  Does it stay on target at 500yds?

Are you planning on taking a box of MHI books to sell?    ;D

The Saiga isn't done. I'm using an old Rock River 20" that's got a YHM float tube on it, Burris 3-12x scope, and PWS brake. It has been a good gun, and in the hands of somebody who's a lot better shot than me, has turned in some really good groups.

    Sure a 20" isn't technically a carbine, but I'm 6'5", it looks  like a carbine on me. :p
