Hunting Pics
« on: October 19, 2008, 09:58:06 pm »
Saturday was the opening day of deer season.  I had to work.  Deer, here in Utah is mostly by a Draw.  I didn't draw.  And I don't like General Season Elk due to the huge numbers of retards on ATV's running around.
So I have to live vicariously through other's hunting stories.

Let's See.... I drew out on a Limited Entry Elk Tag and the DNR Biologist put me in the right area of Grouse Creek Utah... I had the hunt extended for 30-days for being Handicapped... Here is a picture of my Elk... its  a 6x6 with a few broken points... haven't decided to have them repaired or not... kinda like it the way it is.. we both are a bit broken.

I just got back from Deer Hunting this Weekend... shot a small 3x3 Buck... thought a comparison picture would be fun... after hauling out a 900 lb Bull Elk this Deer was TINY.

Hey, at least you saw a deer!   Out here in the Basin area, most hunters are getting completely skunked and not seeing a thing let alone anything with a rack.
Some DNR biologists are telling us that the winter last year was too harsh and a lot of the animals didn't make it or moved south.
That being said, there is a buck and a couple does that keep raiding our garden.  I'll let it get bigger.

I'm hoping to get out in the next few weeks...
I wasn't prompt in getting a hunting tag in the drawing, nor in getting a leftover one. There were a few left for this week, but nobody around has seen anything. The only other tag I can get for the season (elk) will be the first week in November. Hopefully we get snow or something by then..

ETA: I got a tag for the 12-16, I'll open a new thread if it's successful.

If I saw a guy with a 60cu/ft safe filled to the brim with nothing but Jennings, Lorcins and Hi-Points, I'd look at the guy and say "Right on brother".
