Grand Slam
« on: October 15, 2008, 01:19:14 pm »
Here in eastern South Dakota we consider a Home run the following.  Early am goose hunt (bag at least one) followed by late am walley fishing ( again catch at least one), then pheasants at or a little after noon (again one) and finish the day off with a duck hunt  just before sundown.  Limiting out on all hunts is a Grand Slam.  Now that I only get to hunt 1 or 2 days a month I like this idea as it makes a lot of a precious day off.  So whats a Grand Slam in your area?

Coyote in the early AM.  Prairie dogs through mid day.  Trout fishing in the evening.  Wrap it up with more coyotes or other predator at night.
Actually, this is what I call "A Day Off".  Save for yesterday and today... instead of getting out and doing stuff... I've been online doing stuff.
This morning I did get out at Sun Up for some Long Range shooting at the Buckskin Hills range.  400, 600, and 900 yard shooting.  Good times.  Then come home to play on the interwebs... for a few more minutes.

Nice grandslam, around here we call a grandslam when one swing of the bat scores four runs. ;D  But then again, the whole family is a pack of Rangers fans.

Other than that, the only thing I could think of would be a buck in the am, catfishing in the afternoon, a hog in the evening, and a nice dinner after it's done...Then talking the wife into staying up to the wee hours helping you get everything cleaned and in the brine coolers.
