I've been looking for an older Ruger Vaquero Birdshead with a slightly longer barrel than the new models that have the 3.75" barrel, also so I could use the hotter .45LC loads. But with this edition I get the unfluted cylinder look that I love, plus the heavier duty blackhawk frame. Not really a fan of the XS sights, wish they would have stayed with the gold bead that is on the 1911s & some of the GP100s.

It is nice! I've got a Blackhawk in 45LC/45ACP that I like very much. It doesn't have a birdshead grip though.

Remember to subtract about 50 fps from the mid-pressure loads shown when running a 4 inch barrel.  Given the weight of the Blackhawk size frame, running 285 grain bullets in the 950 fps range should be relatively mild in the recoil department.

Some shooters, find the Bisley grip frame as delivered to be rather painfull to shoot with heavy loads.  It does mitigate "single action hand roll" somewhat, but in so doing often jams the second knuckle of the middle finger into the trigger guard.
