NGD: AMT Automag II
« on: December 06, 2008, 11:52:38 pm »
This weekend proved to be bad for my personal finances as the *EVIL* gunshow came to town.  I've been jonsing for an original AMT Automag II w/6" barrel...not the High Standard new version but an original Irwindale gun.  I've heard mixed reactions to the guns, specifically that they jam like no one's business and that they are the loudest damn handgun on the planet.  Typically the jam part boils down to a lack of proper cleaning of the chamber (the dimples in the chamber collect residue) and for some reason rimfires are at the top of the list when it comes to neglecting to get cleaned.  I haven't fired her yet so I can't comment on the 3 foot fireball and resounding boom but I hope to take care of that this coming week.  There was only 1 of these for sale out of all the vendors present, but she is a beauty and came with the factory box & all paperwork.  I also picked up 500rds. of CCI Maxi Mags.  It looks like I may have to make a return trip to the show tomorrow as one of the magazine vendors has a 10rd. CZ 611 magazine for sale and I might want a few extra Automag mags as well.  It's been a long time waiting for me to get one...hopefully she won't disappoint as she is my sidearm to my BRNO ZKM-611.
