Glock manufacture dates?
« on: February 07, 2020, 06:39:45 pm »
So I am home sick from work today and decided to do a little research on when my gen 1 Glock was made.  Has anyone found a good site for this?  I only found one that worked so far..."Your GLOCK was made at september 2089" :panic

Well I am guessing that that date is supposed to read September 1989.

The recommended sure way to find the date is to call Glock.  Not sure I am that interested, but it is a Gen 1 with what appear to be Austrian proof marks on the barrel.  Still don't think Glocks are collectable, but sure do like the lack of finger grooves.

There are 3 letters on the barrel next to the S/N, the 3 letters represent the barrel test fire date code:

The first letter is for the month:
    E...Jan
    L...Feb
    N...Mar
    B...Apr
    S...May
    Z...Jun
    G...Jul
    P...Aug
    I...Sep
    C...Oct
    V...Nov
    A...Dec

The last two letters are for the year:
    O...0
    W...1
    K...2
    R...3
    F...4
    M...5
    H...6
    Y...7
    T...8
    D...9

Glock barrels used to or may have (I don’t know if any that still do but there may be) Proof Marks that included a 3 letter date code next to the pentagon. They’re a pain to remember how to read, I’ll post the code later. Since they’re not on all barrels the serial number is the better source.

To get an idea of a serial number you need the full alpha part of the serial number. Be it 2, 3 or 4 letters. Note that Glock is mfg 4 letter serial numbers and 3 letter serial number pistols - I assume they’ve now assigned certain ranges to mfg plants or possibly even mfg lines. So currently the only way to really know is to check with Glock.

I stole this info off the Glock Pro forum.

Has anyone contacted Glock about build date of their gun?

Not me.  No Glocks = no need to research them.  :coffee
