Possibly. Wanting to use that to build a 'pistol' in 300 BLK makes perfect sense to me.

I have always though 300 BLK 'pistol' would make a dandy truck gun.

Problem is, Brownell's looks a little stingy about selling the upper receiver without it being attached to a barrel.

Like, they're not doing it. At all.

No... but unless you run your upper with a weird custom BCG that doesn't need a receiver extension, you're SOL.

Me, I want their 18" upper, the retro folder stock they've teased, and a set of DD1.5 irons, make as close to an old-school AR-180 as I can get.

I've got their 18" upper, but it is currently on a standard lower.   Still need to get a good adapter to get the folder working.

I think that coming - here - and asking us - if we think you're crazy - for contemplating a gun purchase - is crazy.  What did you think we were going to say?   :rotfl   I agree with Plebian, it sounds like a handy piece of kit and maybe the most fun you could have with clothes on.   :cool

    Just a thought:

There are a number of states with laws, still on the books, that date to the state level "Uniform Firearms Act" movement of the mid-1920s.  In those juristictions, state laws have a different definition of "pistols" than generally accepted today.  Those states that followed the UFA movement usually define a "pistol" as any firearm with a barrel less than 12 inches in length.  As a result, in those juristictions, handguns with 12 inch or longer barrels are exempt from "pistol" transport / concealed carry restrictions and are treated legally the same as rifles.  These laws impact loaded carry in vehicles, including those found in hunting related laws/regulations.

Just something to be aware of as you choose the barrel length of your braced pistol!

Well, it was more that I didn't want ya'' saying I was crazy offhand (not that it wouldn't be justifiable, in some cases..), instead of saying I was crazy for the idea of working the BRN-180 platform.

Unfortunately, it's looking like my best bet would be getting this, and getting the barrel switched out by a 'smith (assuming there may be some functional differences betwixt a RN-180 design and a stand AR design - if it's standard AR, I have 95% of the tools).

But that is more than I want to spend, which is why I like putting my own things together.
