.22LR Conversion kits
« on: December 16, 2017, 03:13:46 pm »
I'm a big fan of these, have one on a full-size Kimber Custom (steel frame) and one for a Stag 2L M-forgery.  More fun than should be allowed by law, and makes for some cheap plinking, as well as being great for starting new shooters.

Recently, Kimber started selling a compact version of their kit, with a 3.5 inch barrel, and since I have some younger Minions for whom a steel-frame 1911 is just a bit much, I picked up a lightly used compact kit to use on my EDC Pro Carry.  Got it yesterday, and have been trying to wear it out ever since.

It's decently accurate, pretty reliable (had two FTFs in the first hundred rounds, but none in the last 200 or so), and fairly tolerant of a variety of .22LR ammo.  And the little ones will have a ball with it, since they're shooting "Papa's gun."

The only problem is that I may not get it back at the end of the range session!
