I've never had that issue, but I rarely remove the magazines from my Enfields.

The new rear handguard retainer came in yesterday. With a little luck I might get to check the accuracy of this thing on Saturday  :D

    Road trip?

That's a good idea. I'm running out of space in the safe for all these extra rifles  ;)

    ...

I think I've got this thing totally wrapped up. The handguard retainer is on, the wood has had a final coat of BLO, and I tossed on a new sling I had laying around.

So has it been test-fired, and if so, with what ammo?

What does one of these conversions run?

     :shrug

Hyrum's was free for letting me potentially destroy his rifle. Coelacanth paid in beer since when his was started I didn't have an FFL yet.

Honestly, I'm just not sure what would be fair to charge for one of these. The barrel shortening takes about an hour, chopping the stock and refitting the nosecap and such takes about 3 hours, refinishing the metal takes another four hours (you wouldn't believe how many fiddly little parts come off an Enfield under detail stripping!), and giving it a fresh coat of boiled linseed oil might have been another hour.

But 9 hours of shop time at typical rates would probably be cost prohibitive on a $2-300 rifle.  :-\

Maybe with experience I can reduce the time a bit.

If you guys have some feedback on what you think it would be worth to you, I'd really value that input.
