It does look like hardware cloth/rabbit wire mesh in the photos.  It is actually made like cardboard, but out of clear plastic.  Very nice tough product, spendy though.

I've heard the falls are majestic, but I'm not quite sure they're that "exciting"  ;) .

Well, an afternoon spent in close proximity to several pipe bands is certainly one way to rekindle your interest in live music - or put you off the idea entirely depending on your taste.  :cool

Update to my post from this past spring.  We hiked literally a couple hundred miles for training, and the week prior to the A100,  my hiking buddy's dad was diagnosed with brain cancer and only a few weeks to live.  So,  s___ happens and no hike this year.  We'll tackle it next year but things are s___ right now and killing a weekend away isn't possible.

I re-read "Her Brother's Keeper" again by our own Mike Kupari.   Outstanding story in the mold of some of my favorites from the "golden age" of science fiction. Interesting plot twists, good pace, believable characters - well drawn, and leaves you wishing for more.

I know its a stand alone book as written but I could really go for the next chapter in the continuing adventures of the good ship Andromeda and her valiant crew.

    Well done, sir.   :thumbup1

Squired for the 501st again. We were at the Walk for Children's Hospital, but we had to leave early (along with most everyone else at the event) thanks to torrential downpours.

I seriously need to get my TIE Reserve Pilot costume finished and approved (most of the big stuff is already purchased or ordered), and I really want to do a Jawa costume at some point: Jawas get to have WAY too much fun when they troop!

Jawas only work if you are short.   I don't think I could pull it off at 6'4".

I would have liked to go to Smallville Comicon here locally this weekend.    It's really been growing the past few years and they had some good guests.   However,  most of the guys from the GI Joe group I'm in are down at Joecon in Chattanooga, so we were not going to have a table like last year, (which I also had to miss for work).   I've also got a business trip to Canada tomorrow and had stuff that needed to get done.

We did make a trip over to Midwest Dogfest 2018 since it was near our house.   Our one year old puppy had a good time meeting all the other dogs,  splashing in the pool, and going over the agility obstacles.

In the interest of keeping the momentum going on renovating the basement and finally having real shop space, I stayed home this weekend to rearrange and clean the basement.

Next step will be moving the beer fridge out to the garage, which (due to the size of the fridge) will require not just removing the doors from the fridge, but may necessitate removing the door frame from the wall (the door betwitxt garage and basement is 32" wide - the fridge is 36" deep  and well over that wide).

Meh.  The door needs replacing anyway... *sigh*

If you're going to turn it into a minor construction project, have you considered recessing the beer fridge into the garage space with the door still inside the house?   Essentially just frame in another doorway to the garage, insulate around the frame and the fridge, cover the junction with trim, and enjoy access to the beer from inside while leaving the bulk of the fridge outside along with the heat it generates.    You could even build a non-fridge door looking skin to hang on the front.  Maybe a "life sized" portrait of Friar Tuck?  :D

I dig the idea, but there's no real place to pull it off.  Facing into the garage from the basement, hard left of the door into the garage is a concrete block supporting the first floor foyer, and hard right of the door is the steps going up into the house.  On the other side of the stairs, is the airhandler for the AC, then a door to the patio under the deck.  I could put it under the stairs, but it'd block access to using that space for storage.

Besides, we've got a deep freezer in the garage, and I can put the fridge right next to it.  The door is already pretty beaten and scarred (and whichever previous owner put it in place left it primered, and never painted it    >:().

Don't get me started about whichever of them also removed the other steel support column that should have been under the beam supporting the kitchen and the rest of the house.   :bash

    Quoted from Booksmart

I think that the builder needs his fingers flattened.   I really wanted to put a 42" front door in just to make appliance moves easier.  Garages, basements, laundry rooms all NEED at least a 36" door.

I am about to pull an eight pound pork shoulder out of the smoker after eight hours at about 225, meat thermometer says it should be done.  I am looking forward to some good eating this week.
