Finally closed on selling our old house on Friday. I've been stressing out over that for months. We bought the new one on July 31st, but then I had to travel a bunch for work in August. So it was September before we got all our stuff moved. Then we had to do some more stuff to get it ready for listing (new carpet, new vinyl in the kitchen, painting, etc.), and it was early October before we were finally able to get it on the market. Which is a s___ty time of year to sell a house and we missed the summer buying crowd.
We weren't getting much interest initially. One lowball offer right after Thanksgiving, but we couldn't come to an agreement. We finally got some good interest after new years. Had two offers come in on the same day. After some back and forth with them, we finally got a decent offer that was pretty close to where I was hoping for. We did have to replace the roof and do a little plumbing work after the inspection, but fortunately insurance was able to cover some of the cost on that due to being able to make a claim for hail damage. So next week, I'll take the proceeds of that and pay off the mortgage on the new house. Wish I could have done it Friday, but since the closing was in the afternoon, we couldn't make it to the mortgage office before they closed for the weekend.
Other than that, mostly hung around the house and took care of our dogs and cats while my wife was out of town. I also put together the kitchen microwave cart I ordered her for Valentine's day, (yes she really wanted that, we need more counter space.)
