Turned wheel weights into ingots yesterday, and today turned ingots into bullets, with Minion assistance.  Turned out well, despite that. (That's what you get for lurking, girls!  :neener).  We now have several hundred each of .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .38/357, and a couple hundred rifle bullets in .30 and .284 diameter.

I coached Nukmed through a refinish on his sows ear gunshow CZ75B.  And I redid my Kareen at the same time.  Pics will follow at some point soon, at least of the kareen.

Like sqlbullet said, this is my first attempt at Cerakote.  He took the time to give me a tutorial and these are the results.

I picked up this CZ 75B at the gun show a week or two back specifically as a project gun.  It's 20 years old and showed its age, but it shot pretty well at the range.

I Cerakoted the frame and slide OD and colored the controls, sights and such in flat black.  I can see some of the places that I didn't finish quite as I hoped to, but all in all I think it turned out pretty good.  I replaced some of the springs and pins as well as part of the project.

Next step is to take it to the range.

That looks like it turned out good, especially for a first attempt.

Went to the local tabletop gaming convention, Tsunamicon.  http://www.tsunamicon.org/   Played a couple of RPGs and some card games.   I really liked Pluto Attacks!  from JTP Games.   https://www.thegamecrafter.com/games/pluto-attacks-

In addition to that, we got a new puppy on Thursday.  We lost one of our dogs a couple weeks ago due to old age/kidney failure.   My wife said she didn't want to get another one right away,  that lasted about a week before she was looking at the website for one of the local rescue places.   We ended up adopting this little girl.   The lady that runs the rescue place was on a motorcycle trip a few months ago and her mother wandered into camp hungry, filthy, and tired. When she was being checked out at the vet, turns out there were some puppies.

Not sure what she is exactly,  probably at least part dachshund since she is longer than usual,  but she's also pretty tall.  Some of her siblings had the short legs though.  In her picture, her mom sort of looked like a mix between a lab and a dachshund.   She had sort of a mini lab head on a dachshund body.

She's a pretty good dog, but it's going to be kind of tough to train her to go outside.  I think she was inside with her siblings for most of her life so far, so she doesn't really correlate going outside with doing her business.   We've been trying crate training the past couple of days to see if that does that trick.

    Good lookin' pup.    :thumbup1

The weather broke below 100 degrees for a couple of days so we did some back yard barbecue.   A couple of 5 pound fryer chickens on Friday and a whole brisket on Saturday.  Mrs. c and I were speculating on how much food we've cooked on that old Weber kettle grill over the years and the best answer we could come up with was somewhere between a dump truck full and a boxcar full.    :hmm   And, for the record, homemade barbecue is definitely worth the effort.   :cool

Looks like my rotary tool is the first puppy-related casualty.  She was sitting on a pillow behind me chewing on one of her toys.   I look over a few minutes later and see that she's found the power cord and has taken a bite out of it.    Anyone know if the Dremel brand replacement cords will fit a Craftsman?

Probably.   Or at least they can be adapted to work as long as the tool specs are close.

How close to the tool did she chew the cord?  If you have at least a foot of cord left, I'd just put a new plug on it and plan on always using an extension cord.  I like not having to worry about always having to get within 'x' feet of an outlet.

If not enough left to re-plug, if the cord external diameters are the same you might be able to replace with a Craftsman cord.  You just have to know which wires are hot/neutral/ground on both cords and make sure you hook them up correctly.

I'm glad all of ours are past the "chewing things for fun" stage.  The last infraction was when Izzy, the foundling beagle, attacked the vacuum cleaner from behind and bit through the cord.  While it was plugged in.  She may make other mistakes in the future, but she won't make that one again!

Went to the gun show in Huntsville today, and found a deal on Hornady American Whitetail ammo, $17.99/box.  Bought five, and would have bought more, if they'd had it!  Scored a jug of RL-15, and some more Large Rifle primers.  Glad The Boss is out of town, otherwise things could get ugly here at Rancho Imperfecto.

So yesterday me and a buddy went to the gun range in our area and I got to try out a Sig Sauer P226 and a EAA Witness Combat, the Sig Sauer was awesome, that trigger was so crisp, the handling was light and the ergonomics were just perfect for me, I took my sweet time with it, just enjoying the moments, unloading that magazine, one round at a time.

The EAA Witness Combat was also great, not as good as the Sig Sauer, the trigger was a little sloppy and it did jam once but then again it was fairly new not being out of the box for less than two months, but all in all I took my time with that one as well and on a personal note, it just looks so beautiful to me.

I added those two to my "Guns to own in the future list".......the Sig getting underlined....and then underlined again.....and again....and again..........and again.

Then we went back to his house where he presented me with the rare opportunity to try out his Norseman Bowie and the KBH Kukri, both made by Knives By Hand, on some logs, it made short work of them and out of all the Kukri's I have handled, that KBH Kukri was the best one, right up there with a Tora Blade Kukri. The Bowie was heavy, not for my but none the less made by an above average bladesmith.

I had to be a nerd and try throwing the Kukri like Bronn of the Blackwater from Game of Thrones, needless to say it stuck, not gonna do it again but it stuck.

Needless to say this experience has led me to believe a new blade will be in my future soon.

I need to buy more Sigs as well. They are lovely.

I also need to shoot mine more often.

Dangit, y'all are making me miss my P228 again...

Me, I drove down to the local comics shop to pick up the latest trade paperback of Marvel's Star Wars comic series and the next trade paperback of the Shadow series I like, and discovered a series I'd never heard of before: Scooby Apocalypse. Basic premise: 90%+ of humanity as been mutated into the horrible monsters that the Scooby Gang used to expose as "frauds," and now the gang has to fight for survival a-la a Zombie Apocalypse story. It sounds dumb, but it's actually AWESOME! Think Scooby-Doo crossed with Uprising USA or Black Tide Rising. The book I bought, Volume 1, contains the first 6 issues, and I've already plowed through them. Now I have to go back to the shop and pick up Volume 2!

And I haven't done any of my grad school homework for this week yet. Tomorrow's gonna suck....
