Get a a good calligraphy book.  Practice a lot.  Eventually, it will all soak in!

Trust me!  I couldn't draw flies on a hot day, but I can do pretty fair calligraphy.  Just takes a little practice, and a little patience.  And do not ask The Darlin' Daughter if the calligraphy version of Kipling's poem "If" is for sale.  It isn't.
"If" is a dammed fine start in educating a youngster in the more important aspects of character, if you don't mind my saying so.

Ah, IF is a very good poem  :thumbup1.

Let me clarify. My cursive is lovely. It also takes me 40 minutes to write a page  :facepalm (My name is perfectionist, nice to meet you), but when I am done it looks fantastic. I write in cursive pretty frequently, so I am well practiced in it, but my print is awful. Due to the time constraints, however I have to print in my professional life.

Cursive is for when I am writing someone a thank you or birthday card. You know, personal affairs that are well planned and precise.

Printing is for when I am jotting down notes at 6 am and I'm on your first words which were two sentences ago and you haven't stopped talking. My print looks like an abortion met hieroglyphics, but as along as I can read it  :shrug.

Of all the truly amazing people I've ever met, my grandfather is still my hero.

That's why The Darlin' Daughter has it in her living room.  She's had her son, (my favorite male Minion) memorize it.

No, but my daughter's hair is.  And some of the Minions are red heads, as well.

So, last week, SM#1 was knocking around Walmart with her mom, and comes toodling up with her hands behind her back.  Says "Mom, I think Papa needs a new gun for his birthday."  Of course, Mom wigs out, starting with how firearms are very personal choices, and very expensive, and so on, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

Undeterred, The Minion says, "No, Mom, he really needs a new gun, and I think I've found just what he needs!"

This is what she got me for my birthday!

    Gotta love a Smart-Ass Minion, don't you?

Imna take your word for it!  And I've discovered that I can use it in *delay* mode.  Set it, leave it, and a few minutes later, there she goes!  The Boss has already threatened me with violence and bodily harm if I don't quit leaving it under her recliner when she's watching a movie!

(Kinda reminds me of the story of Sir Issac Newton and his dog, Diamond.  Seems the dog chewed up a paper that he'd worked on for about two years, calculating the orbit of something-or-other, and Diamond demolished it the night before the presentation.  Newton's only response was "Diamond, Diamond!  Little do you know the trouble you've done!")

This weekend... I spent the weekend on the couch recovering from a motorcycle accident that gouged a leg bone and tore some muscle.
No surgery or cast required, and I can walk.  Slowly and painfully... but I can walk.

Spent the weekend praying for my friends in the Houston area.  They got hit hard and it's still coming down.

Went through that as a ground zero hometown survivor  (28 foot storm surge, 17 feet of water three miles inland), responder/relief and recovery volunteer with Katrina 12 years ago today.

It's gonna take them several years to dig out of this one, folks.  The coastal towns north of Corpus Christi got the high winds, but the rising water is a force of nature no one appreciates until its up to your waist and you have no place to go.  Evacuating a city as large as Houston is not really possible, nor did objective evidence suggest that the flooding would be so widespread.

If you can help in some way, please join in being a part of the solution in some meaningful way.  Those folks are hurting and are just now figuring out had bad it will be.

No expert, but as the insurance commercial says . . . "I've seen a thing or two."

Sounds like it could have been a lot worse. Glad you are on the mend and hope you recover rapidly and completely.

Oy. George, hope you're feeling better soon.

Yeah, Houston got it hit hard. Supposedly, 4 out of 5 homeowners in the worst of it do not have flood insurance... which is gonna *Suuuuuuuuuuuuck*.  One of the things I love about the US is how times like this bring out the best in people (the Cajun Navy, Mattress Mack, etc.).  Sad thing is, it also brings out the worse (Joel Osteen, looters).

Sighted in a new red dot (Sig Romeo) on an AR to replace the EoTech that was on it.  Went hiking up the local "mountain".  And I caught up with an old friend I hadn't seen in person for over a month - we only live 30 minutes away from each other.

Spend my weekending tearing out drywall, AC duct, the stage/alter area (whatever you wanna call that raised area at the front of a church) and the sound booth / wiring & equipment from our church which got ~36" of water in it in Harvey.
