Or trying to give it a bath. Fluffy don't want to take a bath? Good luck with that (I hear people say their dogs love baths but every single damn one of mine has always hated baths)

Be glad the police dogs and horses. Using police spiders to search for a suspect might not be as fast, but it would sure be nastier. And while there might be some logistical issues, using police sharks to take down perps or break up riots is just not something I want to consider.

Daylight - a riot is no joke man - I know the stress from a neighbor family (yes the tweakers from FB) having a fistfight in the front yard how quickly that can go sideways. I think a 12 gauge and a hi-cap gun regardless of details is the best bet. Maybe a pepper spray bottle that will lock open and you can toss into the party?

I'm breaking in the 12 gauge tomorrow. As to the BIG dog - Meet Bruce - a near 200 lbs (now that he's fully grown, this pic is when he was a puppy) Newfoundland. He is the sire of the pup I hope to claim in the next year and start breeding the next generation. Big dogs are big. Big dog that loves your whole family, far rarer. Newfies get that part done.

I am not too stressed out about it. By the time I knew, it was over, and everything was secure. I try to reserve upset for things I can change. There was no reasonable way to expect it might happen, but one of my kids was there (inside a house in the neighborhood) with family members. Somethings you can't prepare for. Somethings you can't control.

I would actually have thought it was more likely at or near my home. My house is a couple of blocks away from a stadium used for school district and some college events. The state fairgrounds are in walking distance, which means big crowds a couple of weeks a year and events year round (including gun shows). I have gone out to deal with groups of unruly teenagers ("get off my lawn.") And I have some expectation of how to respond to an out of control situation here.

Saw a woman walking one of those through our campground one day and called it in as a bear just to mess with my coworkers. "Yeah we got a bear down here in the campground. Ya'll need to come see it"

Knowing how big the males get I bet at a distance they didn't know what to think heh.

I have a mutant ability to make dogs like me. I don't have this effect on humans btw. Anyway, I've found big dogs to be generally much more friendly than little yappers. They're called ankle biters for a reason.

My experience mirrors yours. I've never met a big dog that hates me but the tiny ones cannot stand me. As far as humans, fluff 'em. Dogs don't annoy me about stupid s___ like humans do.

Only big dog I didn't like was my cousins Rhodesian Ridgeback stud. He is the only dog I recall who didn't like me. In my defense he started it. Otherwise dogs like me. A lot.

I love big dogs. I thought about a Newfie and a Great Pyrenees. Little bit of research the Great Pyr's are awesome dogs & love people or rather their person. Not necessarily their whole family. I have 5 kids. That's important to me.

My aunt breeds Newfies, if you Google Nampa Newfies that's her. I have some non dog shopping exposure and just love the way they patrol the whole family. Plus their size is a great force multiplier ;-). People are nervous just based on the size of them.

My only problem with really big dogs are the really short life spans. Along with the CMS's I;ve been looking into Pyr/Maremma/Anatolian/Tartar crosses, you get 12-14 years instead of 7-9 like we had with our Pyr (they really start to slow down after 5) Hybrid vigor is no joke, our Poodle/Golden cross still gets around like a puppy at 7 years old.

I've always wanted to get an Italian Mastiff and name it Orso. My "big" dog at the moment is a 70lbs lab/Rhodesian ridgeback mix. Fairly scary looking, but my sister's Newfie/St. Bernard mix forever impacted what I consider a big dog.

Had a truck pull up to the fee booth one day and I did a double take. It was a fullsize Tundra...

With a big ass Great Dane in it. I mean HUGE Great Dane that took up a good portion of the truck bed and towered over the cab. I looked at the guy driving and asked him where his oversize permit was...he said they were going to put a saddle on him and charge rides for a dollar apiece

One of my brothers brother in laws studs out his male Great Dane for super sized great Danes. Ridiculous how big these dogs are. Like a full size couch is a bed...
