Oh, I understand that perfectly. At no time to I consider it acceptable. But so what? It happened, and these people that now live there are no more at fault for it than you or I. Would you like to suggest that they all be deported to Russia? Because that is even more ludicrous than my idea.
Kaso
When in Rome one must do as the Romans. They live in Ukraine, so they must live under the laws of the land, regardless of their ethnicity and it's customs. If they don't like it they are free to leave.
Ukraine shouldn't have to tolerate this violent movement of ethnic secession no more than we would be expected to tolerate, say for instance, the same sort of violent secessionist movement in the South-Western states, if it were to one day happen. (and for the record, no, I don't think it will)
My point is, this is just a case of Russia being the Evil Empire all over again. This is very similar to what they've fostered in the Abkhazian and South Ossetian regions of Georgia and are trying to start in Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.
Putin & Co. (Vlad the Invader) is pulling one from the page of Adolph Hitler, but in modified form, to suit the modern times. Think of this as a modern twist on the annexation of Austria, the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia and the general "punking-out" of Europe and NATO.
Morally, for me at least, standing in support of the sovereignty of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and the Baltic States is the same as standing in support of the sovereignty of Israel.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we are most certainly bearing witness to the beginning stages of WW3. I have nothing more to say in this matter.
